The portability is everything. I already have an iPhone, and if I wanted something else, It'd be the new 4G iPhone. With its bigger screen, the iPad is great for online browsing and as an ereader. But it doesn't fit in my pocket. And it's not great for extended writing projects (a netbook is better for that, and just as portable as the iPad). So I am taking a pass, too.
